Dstar Radio ConfigurationMYcall:This is the call sign you will be using to identify your transmissions. Most likely the one the FCC issued to you.
URcall:The call sign of your intended destination station. This can be an individual's call or the call sign of the destination repeater or set to CQCQCQ
Rpt1:The call sign AND port of the LOCAL repeater your radio is working INTO. The port designator MUST be in the eighth position. Note that your transmission is ALWAYS repeated locally on this port.
Rpt2:The call sign AND port of the LOCAL repeater your transmission is OUTPUT to. This can be another port on the local machine or the gateway for routing to the Dstar network.
Practical examplesLocal call:You, (WB8XYZ) are in the coverage area of the NERT Dstar Repeater system in Summit county and want to 'drop' your call on the local UHF machine to see if anyone is around for a Dstar QSO.
General call to another repeater, (a Zone Call):You, (WB8XYZ) are in the coverage area of the NERT Dstar Repeater system in Summit county and want to use the UHF repeater input to 'drop' your call on the K5TIT 2m machine in Dallas Texas to see if anyone is around for a Dstar QSO.
Remember the URcall is the final destination for your call. In this case K5TIT port C. The '/' indicates to the system this is a call to another repeater not an individual. Call to a specific individual station, (KX8YZ):You, (WB8XYZ) are in the coverage area of the NERT Dstar Repeater system in Summit county and want to use the UHF repeater input to call Bob, KX8YZ. You thought Bob mentioned he would be traveling out of the area but not sure where.
The system will route the call to the Dstar repeater KX8YZ used most recently. It could be in Atlanta, New York, LA, or Darwin Australia. It doesn't matter. |
